Despite a lot of expository writing the author relies on to keep the story short and tight, telling at the expense of showing, which would have resulted in more of a full size novel instead of a novella, I found myself thoroughly engaged from the first page. The author has an infectious writing style and was able to get me inside the heads of her characters quickly, and made them so real they popped off the page.

This is also one of those rare books where unlike standard novels which keep the romance as a B-story, and unlike Romance fiction, which keeps the relationship front and center as part of the A-story, this book is all about relationships and nothing but. You would think that without coming up for air it would be just too much, but it never is. Very few writers can construct a story like this and make it work. To have any chance at all you must truly excel at character driven fiction, and the author does.

Moreover, I suppose, you could argue that in our heroine’s pursuit of Mr. Right, there are her own struggles to reckon with, trying to cope with the countless Mr. Wrongs, and trying to hold her kids together as a single mom. These peripheral trials and tribulations keep the story motoring along with a kind of B-story, even if it is no less relationship focused than her extramarital affairs.

The heroine’s naked, uncompromising honesty about her own fate, her willingness to bear her soul without pretense or resorting to artifice of any kind, say an active imagination with which she could escape her trials, lends the story a lot of raw power and her a ton of empathy. It’s all too easy for all of us to see a part of ourselves in her, though we may try not to.

Recommended for fans of drama, without the usual coloring and slants of genre fiction.

Chasing Love Ju Ephraime 9780991187966 Books Reviews

What I love about a good romance novels is the romance - something that often falls to the wayside for women like me who have been with their spouses for decades, and Chasing Love did not disappoint. What I don't like about many romance novels is how I can usually skim to the action and fill in all the blanks on my own thanks to the standard "romance formula." Thank goodness Chasing Love followed a formula of its own!
Tilda is a real woman with relatable issues for many divorced mothers in this day in age. Facing a life without passion (something she's used to since her marriage was loveless) Tilda takes to the internet in search of a companion. Along the way she learns a lot about modern day dating (Catfish anyone?) and about herself. A quick, fun beach read, I'll be recommending this one to my girl friends!
Having your husband leave you for a younger woman is an age-old tale––painful, galling, and most of all, a blow to the ego. Enter divorced Tilda, who at forty- seven and three children, is still attractive but no longer feels it. On the Internet she connects with David, a man fifteen years her junior and when they meet in person, sparks fly. End of story. Simple, right?

No, because if you’ve been hurt and all you want to do is to wrap yourself up in a blanket of protectiveness and security, things need time to happen. Luckily, David, with his great intuitive assessment of her, understands that and when they do come together, he is kind and gentle. And btw, sexy! Erotic scenes play a big role in this book, of course, but what also played well for me was the idea that a person can find true love and great sex at any age. Uplifting, indeed!
Chasing Love by Ju Ephraime is a beautifully written story of middle age mom, Tilda, whose husband cheats on her, giving yet another reason for her to seek a divorce. Naturally like many women her age who go through divorce, Tilda turns to the Internet in search of another mate, and possibly her prince charming who will offer more respect than her husband offered.

I appreciated this story of searching for love in later years, and enjoyed how Tilda learned things that offered education for readers as we turned the pages. Knowing too many mothers with children underfoot who seek romance, this story really rang true for me. There seems to be lonely single men, waiting for the right woman, but these same men aren't always the most suited to take on an entire family.

Author Ephraime elicits emotions from readers that run the gamut, and her lyrical turn of phrase keeps one turning pages as the plot thickens.
Tilda tries to tread lightly, but wears her heart on her sleeve, and falls too easily for the wrong man. Albeit some heartache, there is enough passion to make you smile. I highly recommend Chasing Love and send kudos to the author for a well written book!
Matilda Fontanilla, better know as Tilda, is a mother of three beautiful children. Now 47, she discovers her husband, Christopher, has been unfaithful. Over the years he has shown little respect for her and has treated the children like strangers. So Tilda does what any smart woman would do in a failed relationship—divorce.

Thus begins a new chapter in Tilda’s life as she learns the ropes of Internet dating and being courted by a dream guy, David, fifteen years her junior.

Ju Ephraime’s novel, Chasing Love, has at its core an older woman unlucky in love finding affection with a younger man through social media. Ephraime develops key plot points around Mother’s Day—the same day she met her husband and coincidentally—the day the couple split. Naturally, Tilda meets David on Mother’s Day.

Ephraime’s novel deals with many problems couples cope with today in raising children while trying to keep their private lives separate. As a single dad who raised two daughters, I related closely to Tilda’s life circumstances. David’s single life reminded me of my bachelor days and the loneliness I experienced finding love.

The novel contains an emotional pot Ephraime stirs expertly with her vivid writing style as the plot unfolds, providing lessons and inspiration for readers from 16-96.
