Whiskers and Hairballs My Life as a Cat edition by Maranda Russell Children eBooks
This is a basically a ten page or so blog of one liners by the author on her daily life. She has added various photographs of her own cats in poses to emulate her feelings on things such as fear of becoming homeless with a cat inside a cardboard box. However one of these blogs is "Luckily, there are also days when everything falls into place and life is good. On those days the chocolate flows freely." Now as an adult we understand what the author is doing and that there is a separation between the human thoughts to the reality of a cat in real life. However a child may read that and think their cat or a neighbour's cat is going to have a really happy day if I feed it some of my chocolate, which will of course make the cat very sick. Chocolate causes things such as diarrhoea, vomiting, seizures, heart attacks or even ultimately death in cats. Being that the author uses photographs instead of drawings of cats I think adds to child readers' thinking, that's an instruction for cat happiness. It needed at least another line like, of course I'm a cat so I wouldn't touch the stuff as it's poison to me, or something like that.Even without the chocolate stuff, this isn't in the same league as some of the author's other work such as Ode to Icky.

Whiskers and Hairballs My Life as a Cat edition by Maranda Russell Children eBooks Reviews
This book is centered on a few cats, photography of them, and with subtitles that don't always work. The pictures are cute, though. It would have been nice to have more.
Cat lovers will smile from ear to ear reading and viewing this totally delightful book. Telling the story of a cat's daily life with photographs and simple precise prose, the book instantly captures you. It's ideal for children learning to read because it's such fun. The author has also proven very clever and inventive at the end of the very short book because of the items listed in the story under SEARCH. I confess I missed seeing some of these items on my first read and the game can be turned into a joyous learning experience with children.
I never considered myself a cat person, but after reading Whiskers and Hairballs - My Life as a Cat, I may have to reconsider. Maranda Russell shows the life of a cat in an entertaining way. Young people will enjoy this picture book, because the real cats are fun to look at and the book is easy to read. Cat lovers of all ages will find this book entertaining because they can relate so well to the antics of the cats in Maranda's story.
My personal favorite is the "unexpected bath"!
It really is that amazing. As I flipped through the pages, life finally started making sense. "God" is the universe and we are part of that universe. Consciousness shapes reality, and though everything is possible, nothing has to be. Everything that is now or ever will be then is a result of our actions, reactions and inaction. The cats told me this, they showed me the truth, they want everyone to know. They know all and have nothing to worry about, that's why the live simple lives. They are (mostly) peaceful creatures who promote a peaceful lifestyle.

With lots of delightful photos of lots of delightful cats, author Maranda Russell has created a pleasing tale of every cat's everyday life, from morning slumber to unexpected bath (I love that picture!), to comfortable perch on a friendly shoulder. But there's more to this book than meets the eye; an intriguing treasure hunt follows, nicely designed to keep children checking over the pages again and again. For adults and older kids, the author includes the story behind all her wonderful cats and their family at the end, making this a nice short picture book to enjoy with small children and lovers of feline fun.
Disclosure I found a free ecopy and enjoyed it.
Perfectly described the inquisitiveness that is a house cat's, at first glance restful, but tumultuous life. To call the kitteh's lazy would be offensive to kitteh's so instead I respect their observation skills. Always astutely watching for important things like birds and food. Also spontaneous running and hiding.
Wow! I think any cat lover reader would definitely enjoy this ebook with a great short plot and beautiful illustrations, too! For these reasons, I want to recommend this ebook for for five stars and for kids 3-18 and any one older who wants a few chuckles who especially loves to read cat stories. I received this for free and in return. here is my honest review. Great job Miranda! By Angela
